The CLEAR Method
Maybe your home feels more chaotic than calm. Maybe you’ve outgrown spaces that once worked for you, or your life has changed and your home hasn’t quite changed with it. Maybe your children’s things have slowly taken over and, somewhere along the way, you stopped seeing much of yourself in the rooms around you.
Or maybe you know you want something different, but you can’t quite name what. You save beautiful homes and rooms you love, but when it comes to your own home, you don’t know where to begin, what actually belongs there, or whether the things you’re drawn to are really what you want at all.
Clarity was created for that place.
Clarity is the first step in the five-part CLEAR Method, a process within The Art of Coming Home™ for creating a home that supports not only how you want it to look, but the way you actually want to live.
So often, when we’re trying to create the home we want, we look for help in individual places. We turn to an organizer for one problem, a designer for another, a contractor or handyman for the next. We save ideas, follow advice, try to DIY what we can, and take in countless opinions about what our homes could or should be.
But home has never existed in separate pieces. It is a reflection of us and the world we’ve created around ourselves. And when we’re making decisions from so many different sources, all of those outside opinions can become loud. Somewhere in the process, it can become difficult to hear our own.
Clarity brings the focus back to you. Before deciding what to organize, change, buy, renovate, or design, it helps you understand what you truly want from your home and what you want it to support in your life.
Whether you’re doing the work yourself, hiring a handyman for a few projects, or working with a respected designer, that understanding gives you something to bring into every decision: your own direction.
Across 22 thoughtfully guided pages, you’ll begin looking more closely at the life happening within your rooms. What is already working. What you’ve learned to work around. What continually creates friction. What genuinely feels like you. What you keep finding yourself drawn to. And what you want your home to make more room for.
Through reflections and Clarity Notes, you’ll explore the patterns you’ve grown accustomed to, where your care and attention go, what makes everyday life easier, the objects and places you’re instinctively drawn toward, and the qualities that make a space feel like home to you.
You’ll also begin looking at inspiration differently, learning to distinguish between something you simply find beautiful and something that actually reflects what you want for your own home and life. Instead of continuing to collect ideas and hoping they eventually add up to a home that feels right, you’ll begin developing your own reference point for the choices you make.
By the end, you won’t have someone else’s formula for what your home should be. You’ll have a clearer understanding of what matters to you, what you need from your home, why you’re drawn to what you’re drawn to, and where you want to begin.
Because sometimes the problem isn’t that you need a better-organized home, a newly decorated room, or another beautiful thing.
You need to understand what you’re actually trying to create first.
The CLEAR Method
Clarity → Let Go → Elevate → Align → Return
Each step builds upon the one before it, moving from understanding what you want your home and life to hold, to letting go of what no longer belongs, elevating what matters, bringing your home into greater alignment with the way you want to live, and learning how to return to that intention as your home and life continue to change.
Clarity is where it begins.
